This piece was written in honor of my friend Dakota (@dakotaseawitch), based off of one of her favorite tarot cards, the Page of Cups. The suit of Cups represents the element of water, as well as one’s emotions and inspiration. The Page of each suit represents potential and the possibility for change. The Page of Cups in particular represents that a new idea or opportunity has come to you out of the blue, like a fish unexpectedly appearing in a cup! The Page signifies that your creativity is boundless, and it is time for you to decide what to do with it– is this new idea something you wish to pursue? It’s worth spending some time exploring the idea to see if it’s something that’s worth your time and energy. The Page is also encouraging you to explore your creative and emotional self, and to trust your intuition to do what is right for you.

This piece, while not a direct companion to Dowsing, takes influence from it both in the connection to water as well as the connection to poetry. I believe that poetry is a valuable tool for expressing emotion for when we might not have the words ourselves to do so. This piece, with its exploration of sound and vibration, encourages the performer to trust their intuition and explore a new idea.
